Privacy & disclosure.
Regional Garden is built to respect your attention and your data.
What we collect
There are no accounts and no logins. We don’t set our own tracking cookies and we don’t run analytics that profile you. Aggregate, privacy-respecting traffic counts from our host (Cloudflare) tell us which pages are useful, and nothing more.
If you ask for a starter kit, we collect your email address and the state you chose. The state is what makes the kit and the seasonal notes specific to where you garden. We do not ask for or store your ZIP code, your name, or your postal address.
We also record which page you signed up on, and which site sent you here as a short name such as “pinterest”, “google” or simply “referral”. That is how we learn which writing is worth doing more of. It is a short name and never a web address. Before you sign up it is held in your browser only, for the length of your visit, and it is not a cookie and cannot follow you to another site. If you do sign up, that one word is kept with your signup and is sent to MailerLite along with your address and your state, so we can tell which writing brings people here.
How your email is handled
Your address is stored encrypted in our own database, and we record when you signed up and on which page, so we hold our own record of your consent rather than relying on a supplier for it. We also send your address to MailerLite, the service that delivers our email, together with your state, which kit you asked for, and the short source name above, so that what we send you fits where you garden. We do not sell any of it, rent it, or share it with anyone else.
One more thing happens when you press the button: the form is checked by Cloudflare Turnstile, which tells us whether the request came from a person rather than a script. Your network address is passed to Cloudflare for that check; on our side it is used only as a scrambled counter that limits how fast the form can be hit, and that counter deletes itself within minutes.
There is no confirmation step. Your kit downloads immediately on the page, so we never send you away to look for mail before you can use it. Every message we send carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the notes. Write to us and we will delete your record entirely.
If you buy a workbook
Checkout is handled by Stripe as merchant of record: Stripe is the seller on the transaction and the only party that sees your card details; they never reach us. From a completed purchase we keep your email address (stored encrypted, exactly as signups are), which workbook you bought, and the payment’s identifier, because those are what let us deliver your download, re-issue it when you lose it, and refund you. If you saved a preview in the free tool, we keep the answers you gave it, because your workbook opens with that preview. Your download link is stored only as a scrambled fingerprint, so our database cannot leak a working link. Stripe’s own privacy policy covers what they do with the payment itself.
Advertising
We show display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its ad partners may use cookies to limit repeat ads and measure performance; you can manage ad personalization through your browser settings and your Google Ad Settings. We never place more than a few unobtrusive ad units per page.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links to plant and seed sources are affiliate links, including the Amazon Associates program. If you buy through one we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Recommendations are made on the merits; a commission never buys a placement.
Gardening disclaimer
Plant information is provided in good faith for general guidance and is not a substitute for local expertise. Native ranges are mapped regionally; confirm suitability for your area with your state native plant society or extension office. Some native plants are toxic to people or pets if eaten, so research any plant before growing it around children or animals.
